Hello everyone! I am a librarian, in case you didn’t know, and I really love it when I read about libraries and librarians in books. I mean, it makes sense that authors would have a love for libraries because they love books and we librarians also love books! (Sorry, library school, but it’s true and nothing you will ever say will convince me otherwise). Maybe I’m vain, but I have always felt that there is quiet, symbiotic relationship between author and librarian. Or at least, that’s what I fantasize about. Quiet, symbiotic relationships with Maggie Stiefvater. I mean, what? Hey, what’s up?
So I decided to start sharing some of my library slash librarian quotes with all of you, dear readers. Not slash as in, gay fan fic about librarians, but if you would like me to start sharing that, as well, that can be arranged! The first one being from the gloriously talented A.S. King in her Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future:
“You know about safe sex, right? And diseases? And all that?”
“I know enough,” she said.
“Well―uh—be careful, will you?” I wished I could take her to the library and hand her over to the librarians. Please teach her about everything, I’d say.
This has not happened to me in my professional career, and for that I am grateful.
