OK, I’m sorry, but robot bees?! If all the bees die out, as they are showing signs of doing, we are going to replace them with robot bees?!?!?! When did real life become a science fiction novel? Oh wait, it does that every time I read the science and tech news. But robot bees are some of the most science fictional news I’ve seen in a long time. The Greenpeace video describing them is practically a science fiction/dystopian short film. “Nothing can harm them”??! Yep, these are a “sentient robot bees take over the world” story waiting to happen.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THESE BEES DON’T EXIST AND GREENPEACE WAS MAKING A POINT? Well, I guess this is science fiction, science fiction waiting to become a scientific reality. Who’s on it?
Speaking of things that people should really get on…
How about some solar roads? I tend to think that throwing technology made from finite resources at environmental problems is a bit short-sighted, but these solar road panels caught me at an optimistic moment. If humans are going to spend money on roads anyway, then why not build them out of something incredibly useful? Like solar panels that could charge your electric car while you drive, and create a fuck ton of electricity?
Did you see anything science fictional in the news this week?
