Tucked away in the back courtyard of an apartment building in Frankfurt Sachsenhausen is a cafe-bookstore combination that will warm your (bursting) (passionate) (coffee-addled) bookish heart. During the summer the bright courtyard fills with a young crowd reading, drinking coffee, and trading stories in the shade of large potted plants.
If you’re lucky enough to make it to the cafe while the book store is still open (it took me two tries), a bright and wonderful space filled with books makes a good precursor to a pot of tea or cup of coffee (both decent, though not extraordinary) at the adjoining cafe (or is it the book store that adjoins the cafe?).
There are, unfortunately for this reader, no English books between these walls, but I was especially taken with the children’s books. Like Land in Sicht, it is the kind of place you want to leave your money, just so you can be sure they can pay the rent until your next visit.
