Earlier this week I reviewed Kai Meyers’ book Die Seiten der Welt (The Pages of the World), and I didn’t even tell you the best part: it has one of the most romantic lines in all of SFFinal, book fetish literature. Writing together as a metaphor for love! Excuse me while I get something with which to fan myself.
Listen to this (translation mine):
“Yesterday something occurred to me: To like someone is to discover that you speak the same language. To love someone is to use that language to write poetry.
“I don’t know if we’re writing poetry together Furia, but we are already writing a book.”*
If you want to seduce a book nerd, this is your cryptonite. Particularly if it is a German book nerd; the original manages a smooth and perfect diction that I could not locate in any English attempt. Though we never once meet the character who penned these words, I’m ready to let him take me on a date.
