I am drawn to bookshelves. Visit a new person’s house, find yourself in front of them, pulling interesting titles forward for a better look, skimming summaries, asking questions about favorites. The conversations these moments have started are wonderful; they are part of the reason I will never fully convert to e-books. Looking at a person’s bookshelf can be a little like peeling back a bit of skull and getting a good look at what is going on in a person’s head. We are what we read.
And besides, who needs decorations when you can line your walls with books, with as many worlds as there are pages? In honor of bookshelves and the magic they can create between friends, we’ll be collecting photos of Other People’s Shelves in the series Shelf Stalkers. I hope you enjoy eyeballing them as much as I do.
This book shelf compiles all of a friend’s books about magic real, imagined, and fictionalized. On display just inside the front door, it adds an element of mystery and magic to the rooms that come after it.
If you’d like to submit photos of your shelves for Shelf Stalkers, write us a message and tell us all about it.
